Spurs cook 76ers to win 40th in a row, after overcoming Pelicans.

San Antonio found themselves in quite the hole down by 18 points versus New Orleans. But with a tenacious team effort and strong defensive intensity, they battled back to take the lead, raise it to 12 and keep it there. Next up, Philadelphia paid a visit, the biggest threat to the undefeated home streak, but got buried after a stalemate 1st Quarter.

The Sixers lost big time, 140-96, due to a cold shooting night by James Harden (20 points, 9-19 FG, 2-7 3PT). Joel Embiid had just 18 points and 9 rebounds in the defeat. In the loss, Georges Niang had 18 points & Tobias Harris spotted a 13-pt, 15-reb performance. They lost the 2nd Quarter, 36-24, then the second half: 79-47, making 9-28 from 3PT range.

The Spurs poured it on with 22 shots made from deep, led by Dejounte Murray (23pts, 9rebs, 12asts, 4stls). Otto Porter, Jr., salvaged a cold first half to finish with 21, hitting 5-11 from long range. Fred VanVleet had 20, hitting six bombs, and so did Brandon Ingram. The Big Penguin notched 11 points and 15 rebounds with a key block on Harden. Trey Burke scored 11, with Kevin Love scoring 10 & 9 rebounds.

Spurs win 35th straight game, as Drummond crushes Hornets defense.

The Spurs continue to fine-tune their roster, giving Juancho Hernangomez & Kris Dunn some time to impress on 10-day contracts, with the latter arguably solidifying a spot on the team and producing better than Jeff Teague did earlier in the season, before being waived to make room for Trey Burke. Burke has excelled after a rocky start, finding his groove in a backup SG role, dropping 26 points. Dunn also had a flashback of his career high back in 2019, dishing 17 assists once again, which impressed the Spurs. His defensive intensity is also appreciated, causing rumors of the Spurs possibly moving on from Matthew Dellavedova and replacing him with a different positional player as the playoffs loom.

The NBA Trade Deadline also is on the horizon, with the Clippers shaking things up to get Robert Covington & Norman Powell from the troublesome Portland Trail Blazers. Meanwhile, the Ben Simmons saga continues in Philadelphia, with the Milwaukee Bucks & Los Angeles Lakers fighting to gain a contender's edge toward the playoffs. The Spurs remain vigilant as well, keeping an eye on any opportunity to improve the lineup for its championship defense.

By winning a 35th straight game, the Spurs guaranteed themselves home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Andre Drummond played a big role in that win, scoring 31 points & 26 rebounds with 7 assists and 5 blocks. Dejounte Murray has excelled with his playmaking once again, rising in the MVP race and Defensive Player of the Year conversation. The Spurs continue to be the most deadly they've ever been from 3PT territory, with the trio of Buddy Hield, Fred VanVleet & Otto Porter giving every opponent heart convulsions on every possession, with no lead safe from San Antonio's deadly firepower. Brandon Ingram continues to be a sly weapon, capable of going off for a huge scoring night, though his numbers have dipped this season at 21ppg.

Most notably, the Spurs remain undefeated at home, with the possibility of finally pulling off this tremendous feat not far from coming true. One season removed from becoming the winningest franchise in NBA history, San Antonio could very well do it again if they remain flawless at home. Their biggest challenge will come from the 76ers, who will look to stalemate the season series after losing the last go-around.

Buddy Hield explodes for career-high 51 points as Spurs crush Lakers.

After a first quarter that saw them trailing by 13, the Spurs responded ferociously thanks to Buddy Hield, who absolutely shot the lights out, splashing in an NBA regular season record of FIFTEEN THREE-POINTERS for a career-high 51 points.

The Spurs won the second quarter, 45-20, cinching down on defense to cause 20 turnovers by the Lakers. LA only hit 5-16 three-pointers, as the Spurs lead grew to 35. San Antonio, mostly due to Hield, made a team-high 24 shots from deep, en route to a 96-131 thrashing for a season series sweep of 4-0.

In the huge win, Brandon Ingram scored 18th, Trey Burke scored 15 and hit a trio from long range, with Porter, VanVleet & Murray combining for 30 points.

Spurs survive again in LA, win thriller 106-101.

The Spurs cruised past the Phoenix Suns, and then? NBA fans were in for a treat as the Lakers welcomed back Anthony Davis (28 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks) and almost snapped the 25-game win streak of the Spurs.

However, an alpha performance by Dejounte Murray (26 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists) and clutch execution by Otto Porter (15 points, 3-4 3PT), Fred VanVleet (14 points, 4-9 3PT) & Brandon Ingram (20 points) proved to be the difference. The Lakers had taken the lead after a 31-24 surge in the 3rd Quarter and the Spurs began to falter, until a timely 3PT strike by Buddy Hield (18 points, 6-10 3PT) kept the Spurs in it, with Andre Drummond hoisting 13 rebounds and 3 blocks, giving the other AD enough resistance down low.

A quiet scoring night by LeBron James (8 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 0-3 3PT) and cold shooting by Carmelo Anthony & Talen Horton-Tucker (1-13, 0-4 3PT) only helped the Spurs succeed as road villains.  In the loss, Russell Westbrook had 25 points with 7 assists, but LA fell to 32-27 on the season.

As the Spurs win another big time game against a championship contender. San Antonio has just 23 games remaining, with an unprecedented infallible home win record. Past Spurs teams in the dynastic reign had mighty win streaks and tremendous resilience at home, but with just 12 games left at the AT&T Center this season, this incarnation may very well go undefeated at home, which would make for quite the highlight for the history books. 

As Otto Porter wins 3-PT Shootout, R.C. & Pop continue to perfect playoffs-ready rotation.

Tinker-tinker-tinkering away are Coach Popovich & R.C. Buford, as final roster experimentation continues. The Spurs sit at 54-3, towering over the rest of the league, but still not content with the rotation. They took a flier on Isaiah Thomas, who scored well, but was not retained after his 10-Day contract expired. Bench stretch big-man Marquese Chriss gained notice from the Dallas Mavericks after having a solid year so far with San Antonio; coupled with Jeff Teague's underwhelming results so far, the Spurs accepted Trey Burke in return for Chriss, releasing Teague.

The Spurs are now tenatively running Fred VanVleet as the backup point guard, with Trey Burke's score-first prowess coming in behind Buddy Hield. Otto Porter, fresh off winning the 3-PT Shootout, is excelling as a scorer for the Spurs, jumping into the starting lineup every couple of games. Brandon Ingram has started at the 3, but mainly at the 4, with Paul Millsap's earnest defense fittingly earning him some shine at the starting 4 spot. Brandon Clarke has mostly made up for the absence of Chriss, slotting in after Drummond & Love.

In his Spurs debut, Trey Burke had 19 points & 7 assists, showing his talent as a secondary playmaker. Paul Millsap had 22 points, 8 rebounds & 6 assists in his first performance as a starter. Burke has a 6'3" wingspan on defense, making up for his 6'0" stature, a wingspan superior to VanVleet's, and it doesn't hurt that Burke has always given a scrappy effort on 'D' as well.

"We're not sure yet," Coach Pop said when asked about what the rotation would look like for the imminent Playoffs, where the Spurs look to win yet another championship. "We want about 8 or 9 guys that we go to every game, and stick with it, build that rhythm. We're keeping the rest ready and training hard, so they're able to fill in if need be. Because of course we are. But we really want to iron out a rotation that puts us in the best position to win, both defensively and from a scoring perspective, every night."

The defending champions most recently topped the Jazz and finished the season series against the Thunder, winning 3-1. Up next, they face the Phoenix Suns as they continue to fine-tune the roster. Rumor has it ex-Spur Allen Crabbe is back on the comeback trail down in the G-League, and the Spurs also plan to be a player on the waiver/buyout market. The NBA trade deadline is also near.

In yet another NBA Finals preview showdown, the Spurs met the 76ers and came out on top, 115-95 despite a career-high 29 rebounds by Joel Embiid.

 Then against the Pacers, the team rallied strong to win a 20th straight game. The Spurs got revenge on the Timberwolves, bursting out to a once-44 point advantage after a stalemate first quarter, 101-140. Lastly, Brandon Ingram slayed the Chicago Bulls at the buzzer, just barely getting the ball off his fingertips to devastate the home crowd. 

Buddy Hield leads the league in 3PT %, with Otto Porter recovering well after a shooting slump, dropping double-figures in this set of wins. Andre Drummond had 29 points & 17 rebounds in the final season win over the Mavericks. Dejounte Murray had 31 points, 12 assists & 8 steals against the Pelicans. Kevin Love had 26 points & 12 rebounds in his homecoming win against the Cavaliers. San Antonio remains the top team in the league, now at 51-3, still undefeated at home. Both Brandon Ingram & Dejounte Murray have made the All*Star Weekend, with Hield entering the 3PT Contest.

The 64 Point Slender-Man slays Denver as B.I. sets new career high; Spurs crush Nuggets, 112-147.

The Slender-Man, a volume scoring supernova of the Spurs, Brandon Ingram, notched 64 points and set a new career mark in the regular season on a stellar 27-36 shooting display, nabbing 7 steals as well.

Denver stood no chance as Dejounte Murray slammed the net for 25 points, 7 assists & 5 steals. Andre Drummond swatted Jamal Murray's lay-in hard off the backboard, a 14 point/14 rebound double-double his receipt. Wes Matthews chipped in 12 points as San Antonio cruised to a dominant home defense, mountaineering a new scoring total for the season of 147 points. They dominated the paint, 82-44, and Spur-fectly shared the rock for 44 team assists, leading by as many as 39 points, forcing 18 turnovers by the Nuggets.

In the thunderous blowout, Aaron Gordon had a strong showing of 22 points, but Nikola Jokic struggled with just 14 points. Murray had 5 turnovers, as Denver failed to find a rhythm all game long as the home crowd got more than its money's worth in the AT&T Center.

"He goes into another universe sometimes," Coach Popovich spoke in so many words about Ingram's new scoring feat. "It is sensational to watch. That kind of firepower in a scorer--there's nothing like it." Dishing the ball to Ingram several times throughout the game, Dejounte quipped post-game: "I mean, hey, I had 25? That's something, right? Nah, B.I. played amazing for us. I just gave him the ball and got behind security at a certain point. Maybe call the National Guard, I don't know," Murray chuckled in the feel-good locker room atmosphere.

Brandon Ingram had previously set his regular season career high of 63 points three seasons ago, topping it once in the playoffs last year against the Clippers, scoring 64 in the victory. Ingram also scored 45 points in the NBA Finals in that same season thrice removed from now. "Mr. 64" kinda has a ring to it, eh?

The Spurs move to 35-3 on the season, now 19-0 at home.

Next up, the Pacers come to town before San Antonio embraces a national TV road showdown against their NBA Finals rival, the Philadelphia 76ers, led by the duo of James Harden & Joel Embiid.
